April is National Volunteer Month, and as we pause to reflect, we are filled with deep gratitude for the individuals who give their time, talents, and hearts to Harford Family House. Volunteers are essential to it.
Every day, our volunteers help transform compassion into action. Whether they are serving meals, supporting events, organizing donations, lending professional expertise, or simply offering a listening ear, their presence brings dignity, stability, and hope to the residents we serve. For families and individuals navigating homelessness, volunteers are often the first to remind them that their community sees them, values them, and believes in their future.
Our volunteers strengthen our programs and our community. They allow us to stretch resources further, expand opportunities for our residents, and remain responsive to the growing needs in Harford County. Most importantly, they bring humanity to our work. The relationships formed through volunteering create moments of trust, encouragement, and belonging that cannot be measured but are deeply felt.
We are continually inspired by the generosity of our volunteers, many of whom balance busy lives yet still choose to show up for others. Their commitment reminds us that solving homelessness is not something an organization can do alone. It requires a community working together, united by empathy and a shared belief that everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
To every volunteer who has walked alongside us this year and over the decades, we thank you. You are the heartbeat of our mission and a powerful force for change. We are honored to serve alongside you and are profoundly grateful for all that you do.
With gratitude and warm wishes,

Robin Tomechko, CEO
Sandra Osborn, Board Chair
