Happy New Year!
This month marks the start of another new year. With the new year comes hopes and dreams for the future as well as a reflection of the past. It also marks the celebration of the 33rd anniversary of Harford Family House.
33 years ago, the Harford County Episcopal Churches banded together to address the needs of families with children experiencing homelessness by founding Holy Family House. Even then, our founders had the wisdom to recognize that together they could do so much more than any one of them could do alone. Starting with a single family in need of assistance and a dedicated group of volunteers committed to making a difference, the founding churches forged an alliance that has grown beyond what they could have imagined 33 years ago.
From these humble beginnings, Harford Family House has grown to be the largest provider of housing for families with children in our community and has expanded to address the unmet needs of young adults ages 18 to 24 experiencing homelessness. With a staff of 12 paid employees and hundreds of volunteers and financial supporters, Harford Family House now serves up to 30 families and young adults at one time and has expanded services to include programs for children, workforce development programs, budgeting assistance and more, as well as additional support for clients once they move on to their own permanent housing.
We are proud of all we have accomplished together and look forward to what the future holds. We are continuing to expand our programs to meet the needs of families and individuals and are exploring ways to work with others in the community to close any gaps in services. It is our vision to build the start to finish solution to end homelessness in Harford County and you are a significant part of that vision.
To learn more, please come visit us on January 21 from 8 AM to 4 PM at our Open House! We look forward to seeing you there and to continuing to work with you to end homelessness in our community!
