Harford Family House, Inc. is working to end homelessness for families with children in Harford County, MD.

We are unique-

  • Many providers cannot house an intact family (father, mother, and children). We can. However, we will house any family make up as long as there are children (single moms or single dads or legal guardians).

  • We provide individual family units. A family needs to live like a family so they can begin to work on the barriers to finding permanent housing.

  • We provide a program with the shelter. There is case management, of course. See the Education page to see more of the program.

  • We have a time limit. Families have one year with us in the transitional program. It is long enough to work on problems, but short enough to prevent dependency.

  • Those in the HUD program have more time because of a diagnosed disability. It is still the goal to move these families to self sufficiency as quickly as possible. Most exit the program in two-three years.

  • Families adhere to rules or they cannot stay within the program.
Last year Harford Family House, Inc. enjoyed an eighty-one percent success rate. Eighty-one percent of the families that exited our program moved to permanent/stable housing. Our unique blend of agency support and family accountability is one reason why. The families are our partners. Without their efforts, there would be no success.
